Lake Barkley is host to many attractions like our 22-acre water park, Mineral Mound State Park 18 hole Golf Course and the Rose Hill Museum. Barkley Dam /Visitor's Center |
Barkley Dam is 157 feet high and 10,180 feet wide. Commercial barges can be seen entering and departing Lake Barkley through the huge 1,200 foot locks. The visitor’s center theme is “Steam boatingon the Cumberland.” Discover what life was like 100 years ago. Open weekdays. |

Cave-In Rock Ferry |
The free riverboat ferry crosses the Ohio River at Cave-In Rock. The cave was a headquarters for river pirates. Scenic views - unusual mode of transportation. Free. Open daily 6 AM -9:30 PM, weather permitting. |

| Kentucky State Penitentiary | Standing high above Lake Barkley, the KY State Penitentiary looks more like a medieval castle than it does a prison, which prompted the nickname "The Castle on the Cumberland." The Castle is the only maximum security prison in KY and houses all death row inmates. Although tours are not permitted, the prison is worth the trip to see the facility. Rose Hill Museum is across the street and houses artifacts and history of the prison. |

The Trail starts on Lake Barkley Drive in old Kuttawa. Vacationers will find a peaceful setting with over 3 miles of hiking and biking trails. Located across from the new Kuttawa public boat ramp. |

Learn about wildlife in this 700-acre Elk & Bison Prairie or participate in hands-on nature programs at Woodlands Nature Station. Experience history up-close when you visit The Homeplace living history farm and see how people utilized the environment in the 1800’s or see the bigger picture at the Golden Pond Planetarium by viewing spectacular shows of space and the night sky on a 40-foot diameter dome. Enjoy our challenging 18-hole, par 72 golf course! The front 9 holes are situated in a wooded area. The back 9 offer beautiful lake views with several holes flanked by water. The No.11 plays over a beautiful lake inlet. The park also has a picnic area, a fishing pier and a boat ramp. The facility has a magnificent new pro shop that boasts scenic views from atop a hill overlooking Lake Barkley and offers rental carts, clubs, and merchandise.
